Cherokee Bryan Parks (born October 11, 1972) is an NBA basketball player from the United States. Parks was a 6′ 11″ (211 cm), 240 pound (109 kg) centre for Duke University, where he won the national championship in 1992 as a rookie under coach Mike Krzyzewski. After college, he was drafted in the first round (12th overall) of the 1995 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. He played for the Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Vancouver Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, Washington Wizards, and Golden State Warriors throughout his ten-year NBA career (1995–2004). During the 1997–98 season with Minnesota, he set career highs with 7.1 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. In 2011, Parks came out of retirement to play in France. Parks was given the name Cherokee by his mother in honour of his Cherokee great-grandmother. Corey Parks, his sister, was the original bassist for Nashville Pussy.
