The Lola bunny challenge originated after the artist Chelodoy posted a fan art piece of Lola Bunny from Space Jam to his various platforms, including Twitter on April 8th, 2021.
She can be seen off to the side before squatting, then extending it down into a Slav Squat while completely unclothed. In one year, the animation on Twitter received over 65,000 likes.
However, it was not until September 2022 when BrownSugarFlicks uploaded a video to Twitter recreating the same movement as Chelodoy’s animation, the video went viral.
She captioned the photo, “Tryna sit on yo face like Lola Bunny,” and subsequently ignited the trend a week later after receiving 24,000 likes in six days.
On September 13th, 2022, the trend exploded in popularity, with many other women on Twitter joining in on the trend by doing the same squat motion as Lola Bunny.
In the days that followed, numerous Twitter users uploaded their own videos, causing such a surge in posting that the hashtag “#LolaBunnyChallenge” made it to the platform’s trending tab.
