Richard Naradof Goodwin (born December 7, 1931) is an American writer who may be best known as an advisor and speechwriter to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson and to Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
Graduated first in his class at both Tufts, then Harvard law school in 1958, then clerked for Supreme Court justice Felix Frankfurter. After varied posts in Congress and then alongside presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, also worked as speechwriter for candidates Eugene McCarthy, Robert F. Kennedy and Edmund Muskie.

A few years after first wife died, he married fellow writer/historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. They live in Boston and he keeps an office in Maine.
