Lisa Scottoline (born July 1, 1955) is a legal thriller novelist from the United States of America. Scottoline was born in Philadelphia and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she received an undergraduate degree as well as a law degree. She subsequently worked as a litigator for a Philadelphia-based legal company. After the birth of her baby, she decided to leave the law company and pursue a writing career as a means to supplement her income. Final Appeal was the recipient of the Edgar Award for “Best Paperback Original Mystery” in 1995.
After a successful first book, she went on to write 14 more best-selling novels, including Look Again and Don’t Go, which both peaked at number two on the New York Times Best Seller List. Currently, her books are being translated into 25 other languages. Since March 2007, Scottoline has been contributing to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s “Chick Wit” column. An anthology of her articles was released on November 24, 2009, under the title Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog: The Amazing Adventures of an Ordinary Woman: The Amazing Adventures of an Ordinary Woman.
